Tracey and I made this short “buddy film” as part of the 48 Hour Film Project 2010, in Tampa. The 48 Hour Film Project is the largest international film competition in the world. The project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. We have made several shot films for the competition and have done well in the past winning several awards. As an artist it is hard to be subjective about your work but I think the team (Leftover Films) really came together this year and we made something we are all very proud of. Tracey directed it and I produced, shot and edited the film.

On Friday night July 16th, we got a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in our movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it was shown at Channelside along with the other teams on Wednesday. 27 teams competed and 20 teams turned in a their film on time! Just finishing your movie is an accomplishment..phew!

Here are the elements we had to include:
Genre “Buddy Film”
Character – Diego or Dolores Florio, Tourism Worker
Line of Dialog “That’s not what I meant”
Prop – Bathing Suit

We got help from the very talented Khaled and Mariana of Kismis Ink as well as Erica and Katelyn from Occasions. My old friend Natalie Campisi, a working writer, came up with a brilliant script and we got an amazing composer Travis Abel at of Seattle who stayed up all night in Seattle scoring our rough cut.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which Tracey , myself and an ultra creative team we are putting together – will make a movie—write, shoot, edit and score it—in just 48 hours. We sat out last years competition in Tampa but just like Randy Jackson always says, “We are definitely in it to win it!” The contest is from July 16th – July 18th. Our team name is Leftover Films.

Here’s how it works. On Friday night,we pick a random genre out of a hat then we get a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue all to be included in our movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a Channelside the next week. Stay tuned for show times as unlike the summer blockbuster you only get one chance to see our movie!

In 2009, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in in 76 cities. They claim it is the largest international film competition. Many films have even been shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

If you follow the blog then stay tuned to follow all the wild and wacky details of this ultra creative pressure cooker we like to put ourselves into. In the meantime if you are Facebooker like we are then stop by and say, “Hi!” Leftover Films Facebook

This was a seriously fun and creative shoot and the video is proof positive that facebook is a great tool! I met Mariana and Khaled of Kismis Ink Photography on facebook as Tracey and I became huge fans of the very cutting edge and fresh photos they took. (Apparently they were also admirers of our work.) We hit it off immediately and we discussed ideas for a possible shoot. Mariana really was the brains behind this shoot and Holly Nazario of Creative Collections did the makeup, they really did all the work. Khaled and I were just the Muscle! We had two wonderful and talented models – Laticia and Janelle- who really got into the idea and this is what we came up with!

This is seriously a cool video!~ We were the official cinematographers at the Gasparilla International Film Festival for 4 days in March – following all the action and mingling with the stars. Raymond J. Barry got the lifetime achievement award and you may not know his name but click on the link and I guarantee you have seen most of his films. I was saying, “I didn’t know he was in that!?” We got to hang with Ryan Nece and Shelton Quarrels of the Bucs, Jerry Springer, Stephen Baldwin, Armand Assante and the Melora Hardin, Michael’s Boss from “The Office” (ok well we really didn’t hang with all of them but said “Hi” to most…lol)

The Rising Star Award went to Arielle Kebbel who was a student of local actor teacher Kathy Lauglin of Performers Studio Workshop. Kathy has coached many of the actors used in our short films!

The closing party was a blast and MMD Events designed a fantastic party, and the to die for delecables was catered by Good Food Catering Company and the bar was run by the fantastic uDream Events and DJ Fresh official DJ of the Rays rocked the house!

Check out the party here!
The wind was kicking up as the couple exchanged vows which really added to the romance of the day! Tracey even stepped away from filming long enough to capture some beautiful still images. Tracey and I just wanted to wish the newlyweds congratulations and a blessed life together!

Tracey looked as beautiful as the day I married her! Photoclub is a creative gathering of some of the Tampa Bay Area’s best professional photographers. They get together to learn, share, critique and express their art. We had over 20 top-notch photographers and 5 models strutting their stuff! We even shot some super 8mm but we’ll have to wait on the film to be processed

We had a wonderful trip to Ohio for my brother’s wedding in Cleveland and made a pit stop overnight in Columbus to stay with my sister and her family before we all headed to Cleveland! Megan looks so cute wearing Bryan’s Tampa Wonderworks shirt and Sara has the absolute rosiest cheeks ever that we had to show the girls off to everyone!

We love Starbucks or should I say I LOVE Starbucks. Tracey just recently started drinking coffee. But she is such an amateur she has ONE cup in the morning. In any event I love Starbucks but it isn’t always the best place to meet or conduct business. Now that we are going on our 3rd year in business and it is growing steadily, we got a great little office space close to our home office, to meet and entertain our clients.

The address is 3980 Tampa Rd. Suite 101-E Oldsmar, FL 34677. It is located at the corner of St. Petersburg Dr. and Tampa Rd. next to the Wachovia in the Oldsmar Town Center Professional Suites Building.
