We love the “Timelapse!”

  • March 25, 2010 9:01 am

One of the coolest things we get to do with our new HD Cameras is shoot stills. Actually the new HD cameras are Pro Photo cameras that happen to shoot video. Canon never envisioned that they would explode the way they have. I believe this is the best time ever in the history of filmmaking. We can shoot near 35mm film quality with these cameras and just a few thousand dollars in lenses….well ok maybe a little more than that but you get the point.

With a timer remote hooked to our camera we are able to set the shutter to snap a picture every second or every 2 seconds or however long we set it to. Then we just let her go and when we’re done we import all the pictures into our editing system and just speed it up! I think the coolest thing about timelapses is that you really travel through time and see its beauty in a whole new way.

So here is something I shot last night at the park near our house in Oldsmar. I really wanted to stay well past sunset until it got dark. But I had to go. Maybe next time? This timelapse is over 2700 still photographs.

Official Cinematographers of the Gasparilla International Film Festival

LOGO 2010
Our good friend Monica Varner of Elan Events Studio asked us to film some of the highlights of the 2010 Gasparilla International Film Festival. We entered our film “Rock Harder” in the 2008 competition but didn’t get in. Each year the festival has grown as a result of Monica and her staff’s hard work. This year at opening night the screened the Audience Award winning film of the Sundance Film Festival “Happythankyoumoreplease,” directed by 1st time director Josh Radnor of one of Tracey and my favorite shows, “How I Met Your Mother.” The festival is a blast and continues today with a host of great films as well as the closing ceremonies tomorrow, with the winners announced and a huge party! We will post a short film of the festivites soon, so stay tuned!

Coming Attractions // Kristen + Ryan

One of the best aspects of Tracey’s and my career is the lasting relationships we make along the way! Kristen was a bridesmaid at a wedding we shot last year and we liked them since the moment we met. This day was a long time coming for Kristen + Ryan and it proved to be more beautiful than we could have possibly dreamed. Check out their Coming Attractions Trailer marking the release of their feature film!
